Privacy policy
The short version: we don’t ask for your name, the things you save stay on your device, and we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful.
What stays on your device
The site uses your browser’s local storage, not cookies, to remember:
- items you save with the bookmark button;
- which checklist steps you’ve ticked;
- the last filters you used in the gift finder.
This never leaves your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it. Nothing here identifies you.
Analytics
We use two analytics tools to see which pages people read and which links they use:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without collecting personal information.
- Google Analytics 4 measures pages viewed, how people arrive, and clicks on our partner links. It uses cookies (such as
_ga) and a pseudonymous identifier; it does not receive your name or email. Google’s use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics cookies are off by default, and only anonymous, cookieless measurements are sent. Everywhere else you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
We don’t use analytics data for advertising, and ad personalization signals are turned off.
Affiliate links
Some links go to Amazon with our Associates tag. When you click one, you’re on Amazon’s site, and Amazon’s privacy notice applies, including any cookies Amazon sets to attribute the purchase. As an Amazon Associate, Almanac Kit earns from qualifying purchases.
Travel partners
Travel pages may link to booking sites through Travelpayouts and similar partner networks, and the site loads a small Travelpayouts script to manage those links. When you click through and book, the partner may use cookies to attribute the booking, under its own privacy policy. We earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Advertising
Pages may show ads from third-party ad networks. Those networks may use cookies or similar technology to show ads and measure them, under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of many interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info. We’ll name the networks we work with on this page once ads are live.
If you subscribe to the monthly email, we store your email address to send it, and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share the list.
Accounts
Accounts aren’t available yet. When they are, this page will explain what we store for signed-in readers before you can create one.
Children
The site is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and contact
You can clear local storage at any time, block cookies in your browser, and unsubscribe from email. For any privacy question, contact us.
